Hundreds of Books from David Lynch's Private Library to Auction

A group of author-inscribed books from the personal home collection of David Lynch
Books and other personal items belonging to film-maker David Lynch will go under the hammer on June 18.
The David Lynch Collection by Turner Classic Movies and Julien's Auctions at The Peninsula Beverly Hills features a wide range of items from Lynch's creative life, including the art supplies and tools from his home art studio and wood shop, furniture that includes many pieces designed and built by Lynch himself, equipment from his home audio recording studio, several coffee machines and mugs, and his personal collection of vinyl records relating to his 1986 film Blue Velvet.
Lynch was a big reader and the sale reflects that with groupings of books in a number of lots, gathered into various categories including fiction, photography, film biography and reference, art, architecture, and transcendental meditation.
Highlights include:
- a group of author-inscribed books bearing a 'Studio David Lynch' stamp including Eva Brewster's Vanished in Darkness: An Auschwitz, Nana Bokhua's Maiki; Leonard Merrick's The House of Lynch, Linda Egenes, ed. The Ramayana, and Stephen Mitchell's Tao te Ching (English translation).
- a copy of Amy Lillie's I Will Build My Church (Philadelphia: 1950) with the 'Studio David Lynch' stamp and signed in pencil 'David K. Lynch' who has also written a phone number and address
- a group of four colorful prop menus for Winkie's Sunset Blvd., the diner where several important scenes take place in the film Mulholland Drive (Universal, 2001). The front of the menu promises "There's Always Hot Coffee!!"
